The STEM Women of Color Conclave annually comes together as the largest national assembly of women faculty of color, representing all academic STEM disciplines.
"Everything Is Going To Be Alright..."
A word of solace. A work of art. A gesture. A balm for the weary academic’s soul. These words, offered at the right time by the right person can mean the difference between chaos and calm. We count on these words to soften the blow, silence the storm, and remind us that there are – no, there must be – forces larger than us, fighting for us, working on our behalf, creating a better landscape of brighter days ahead.
Like the artist, Martin Creed, we’ve captured these words for the 2023 STEM Women of Color Conclave and, like Creed, we’ve put them in spectacular neon lighting. We wish for this familiar and reassuring phrase to convey a sense of strength, accomplishment, and well-being for all STEM women faculty of color; and affirm the assertion that even in the midst of the madness and confusion of COVID, the academy, and the country, better is in store for us.
The Conclave serves as a catalyst for harnessing a centralized body of knowledge and best practices related to women of color and holistically promoting the personal and professional development of women of color in the academy.
